Frank Ocean's 'Moon River' Cover Mistaken for New by Fans

A newly released Frank Ocean cover of 1961 hit "Moon River" has been mistaken by some fans as being original to him.

The song was originally composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, and Audrey Hepburn sang the tune in the 1961 movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." The song won the Best Original Song Oscar that year as well as Grammy awards for Song and Record of the Year.

That was 57 years ago, however, and Twitter reactions to Ocean’s synth-pop, slow-melodic version of the song showed most of his fans aren’t familiar with the original.

Many did know the song was a cover, however, and attempted to set the others straight.
