Flavor Flav, the rapper and former reality TV star with quite the rap sheet, was arrested in Las Vegas on Thursday for allegedly driving under the influence and speeding.
The “Flavor of Love” star, who had a suspended driver’s license, is also suspected of possessing marijuana and having an open container of
alcohol in the vehicle, The Associated Press reported.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Loy Hixson told the AP that Flavor Flav, who was born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., was traveling 73 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone when he was pulled over in his 2005 black BMW as he entered Interstate 15 southwest of McCarran International Airport at about 12:30 a.m.
The star, who rose to fame in the 1980s with the group Public Enemy and is known for wearing large clocks around his neck, was released from jail after
posting $7,000 bail, Reuters reported.
Thursday’s arrest is the 56-year-old entertainer’s latest of several run-ins with the law, which include a felony charge of driving with a suspended license in January 2014, when he was speeding to his mother’s funeral. He pleaded not guilty to those charges earlier this month, commenting to reporters afterward: "I don't like the circumstances, but
I like the attention." E! Online reported.
In March 2014, he pleaded guilty to domestic violence for threatening his girlfriend’s son with a kitchen knife.
Twitter users made light of the arrest.
