An ESPN anchor managed to escape without serious injuries after a large part of the set came crashing down on him during a live broadcast Tuesday night.
In video footage, Carlos Orduz, who is a panelist for the channel in Columbia, is seen sitting alongside several others when what appears to be a large monitor collapses onto him, slamming him face down into the table. The camera quickly turns to focus on the main anchor, who looks on in stunned silence before regaining his composure and calmly announcing a commercial break. In the background, staff can be heard telling Orduz to keep calm while he shouts "that knocked me out," according to TalkSport.
It was not long before video clips of the crash were circulating on social media, prompting Orduz to deliver a health update on Twitter.
"To those who wrote to me and greeted me about the accident last night, I must tell you that I am fine, thank God after the medical check-up, the respective examinations, any issue was ruled out, only a bruise and a blow to the nose (no fracture). Greetings and thanks," he wrote in a tweet.
This is not the first time a journalist has narrowly escaped serious injuries while reporting live. NBC News' Kristen Welker was almost hit by falling light stands while she was reporting outside the White House in April. She managed to dodge the structure just in time, HuffPost reported.
