Erykah Badu Crashes Reporter's Live Interview, Tries to Kiss Him

By    |   Monday, 30 June 2014 12:42 PM EDT

Multi-platinum singer Erykah Badu was caught on tape photobombing New York reporter Mario Diaz on Friday, trying to kiss him while he was attempting to film a morning clip for Pix 11.

According to CBS News, Badu was blocked by Diaz before she could plant one on him. She then lingered a bit behind the reporter, made obscene hand gestures, and continued on her way. Funny enough, Diaz was in Midtown Manhattan reporting on another celebrity's antics, those of actor Shia LaBeouf.

On Thursday, LaBeouf, who starred in the "Transformers" movies, was arrested after disturbing the first act of the Broadway show "Cabaret." He was ultimately taken out the theater in handcuffs and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.

Diaz was reporting on the LaBeouf incident, which took place at the famous Studio 54 theater, when Badu popped into frame with her own disruptive antics.

A few Twitter sleuths noticed it was her, and tweeted at her asking what was going on.

Badu initially denied it was her.

But, after a few more hours, Badu recanted, and tweeted an apology to Diaz, complete with smiley faces.

Diaz responded with admirable grace, turning the incident into a compliment to himself. He tweeted back a Prince lyric, writing "I get it because . . . 'Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with I just want your extra time and your . . . kiss.'"

He also said that his wife saw the whole thing before it transpired.
