Erin Andrews' $75 million lawsuit against a hotel franchise owner and a peeping tom kicked off Monday in Nashville with jury selection.
The Fox Sports reporter is suing Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University, Windsor Capital Group, and Michael David Barrett, claiming that the hotel allowed Barrett to book rooms next to her, which allowed him to create peepholes and film the broadcaster
changing clothes, The Tennessean reported.
Andrews, who was working for ESPN when she stayed at the hotel in 2008, said in court documents that Barrett then posted the videos of her on the Internet. He pleaded guilty to felony stalking in 2009 and was sentenced to
30 months in prison, The Washington Post reported.
The sportscaster has accused the Nashville Marriott of negligence for allowing Barrett to find out her room number and
book his own room next door, according to Reuters. Andrews claimed the incident inflicted emotional distress and Barrett's actions amounted to an invasion of privacy.
Marriott International was originally named in the lawsuit that was filed four years ago but a judge dismissed hotel giant from the suit, saying that it was not responsible for security at the Nashville Marriott, according to The Post.
"As we have maintained since this matter first came to our attention, however, Marriott International was not responsible for what happened to Ms. Andrews, and we are pleased that the court has dismissed Marriott International from the case," said a statement from Marriott International through its attorney, Elizabeth Tipping, of Neal & Harwell.
"Marriott International continues to be sensitive to the serious nature of this matter and remains committed to the safety and comfort of our guests," the statement continued.
Along with her work on Fox Sports, Andrews competed on the 10th season of "Dancing With the Stars" and has co-hosted the ABC show since 2014.
