Elon Musk plans to address President Donald Trump's travel ban by asking for "specific amendments" from the president's economic advisory council.

Musk, who is a member of Trump's economic advisory council, said in Twitter post Sunday he wanted to build a consensus within the group about needed changes since the ban sparked protest around the country this weekend, Tech Crunch reported.

The chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX said on Twitter Saturday that the ban was problematic. Trump signed an executive order Friday that bars citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen) from entering the United States for the next 90 days and suspends the admission of all refugees for 120 days,  CNN reported.

Musk and the advisory council are scheduled to meet with Trump Friday, reported Tech Crunch. Another member of the council, Uber chief executive Travis Kalanick, has also spoken publicly about the new immigration ban.

"This order has far broader implications as it also affects thousands of drivers who use Uber and come from the listed countries, many of whom take long breaks to go back home to see their extended family," Kalanick said in a Facebook post. "These drivers currently outside of the U.S. will not be able to get back into the country for 90 days. That means they will not be able to earn a living and support their families — and of course they will be separated from their loved ones during that time."

The immigration ban generated protests this past weekend at the White House, New York City's Battery Park, Boston's Copley Square and airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, Dallas, Raleigh, Houston, Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, and New York City's John F. Kennedy airport, CNN reported.
