Egyptian President Morsi's Spacebound, if Foes Can Game Contest

Opponents of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi think they've found a way to remove him from office: Sign him up for an online contest that promises a winner a free trip to outer space.

Axe, a brand of men's grooming products, is running the outer space contest as a promotion and said it will send 22 people to the edge of space and back aboard a private spaceship that has yet to be built.

The April 6 Youth Movement, an Egyptian activist group that played a key role in toppling the regime of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, on Thursday posted on Facebook its proposal to launch Morsi into space and announced it had entered his name in the contest.

The activists called on supporters to vote for Morsi to win the trip into space, The Associated Press reported.

"For sure, no one in the universe can put up with blatant lies, reneging on promises except for the brotherly people of the moon," the group wrote in its post. "It is for this reason that the president needs your votes. President Morsi, we wish you safe travels."

April 6 also posted an image of Morsi in a white space suit.

"I want to go to space because I completed my mission," April 6 mockingly quotes Morsi.

There has been no response from Morsi's press office.

Many of the April 6 activists backed Morsi in the June 2012 election which he narrowly won to become Egypt's first freely elected president. Later they became some of Morsi's fiercest critics, according to the AP. Opponents say Morsi has monopolized power and went back on his campaign promises for an inclusive government and far-reaching reforms.
