Forget the clich√© the early bird catches the worm,  new research has given a great reason to set the alarm clock: Early risers have more active sex lives.

That’s the conclusion of a recent study conducted by OnePoll, on behalf of Sleepopolis, that analyzed the sleeping habits of 2,000 Americans. The idea was to gauge what each individual's sleeping style said about their personalities and relationships.

The group was split up according to self-described night owls and early birds and then the participants were examined by researchers.

Night owls were found to be shy and sarcastic but fiercely loyal while early birds were found to be happier. Night owls were also found to be more laid-back while early birds were more likely to be active. Additionally, early birds earned more money and were more likely to work in an office, although they were also more likely to be late for work.

On the date married with children.

But of all the findings the most interesting one is that early birds were having more sex, up to three times a week, than their night owl compatriots

Researchers also noted a difference in gender between the two groups. According to the survey, men were more likely to be early birds while women identified more heavily as night owls.
