“God is not always politically correct,” according to Missy Robertson of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” who said faith comes first for the family, and controversy hasn’t changed that.

“Our faith is not something we just say out loud or a platform we created. It's something we have deep in our bones because of what Jesus Christ did for us on that cross,” Robertson told Fox411 on Tuesday.

Family patriarch Phil Robertson stirred criticism in December after making controversial comments about homosexuality. He was suspended briefly from the show, which recently ended its fifth season.

The family stood behind Phil.

“You don't have to agree with someone to love them, and my dad loves all people, regardless of their race and sexual orientation,” Jase Robertson told People.

Missy Robertson, who is married to Jase Robertson, said the controversy has an upside.

"I think this is good because it's gotten people to talk about some serious issues,” Missy said, according to People. “Everything is an opportunity for learning and understanding."

Missy told Fox411 about the importance of faith for the family and how they hope to use their fame to shine a spotlight on God.

“We go to speaking engagements and people say, ‘Thank you so much for not just standing up for your faith but speaking it out loud.' We get that over and over again which just really strengthens our resolve,” she said.

Faith also has helped the Jase and Missy Robertson deal with their 10-year-old daughter Mia’s cleft palate. Her corrective surgery was documented in the show.

“How people without faith and God and knowing there's a God up there in heaven that loves my child more than I do, how do people who do not grasp that concept or have a relationship with God, how do they get through it? I don't know because they have to rely completely on themselves to get through it and that's got to be very difficult. I feel for them,” Missy Robertson said, according to Fox411.
