'Duck Dynasty' T-shirt Is 'Threatening,' School Tells Student (Video)

A teenager in Virginia got in trouble this week after school administrators told him his "Duck Dynasty" T-shirt was too "threatening."

Hunter Spain, a student at Dinwiddie High School in Dinwiddie, Va., was told he could either turn his black "Duck Dynasty" shirt inside out or go home.

The shirt in question showed a picture of Uncle Si, a lovable bearded hillbilly on the A&E reality show, with one of his catchphrases emblazoned on top: "I will hurt you physically and meta-physically."

"Duck Dynasty" chronicles the lives of the Robertsons, a lovable Louisiana family that struck it rich with their Duck Commander business that makes calls for duck hunters.

"For this to be considered as a threat to the school, I just couldn’t understand it," Edna-Jo Spain, Hunter's mother, told NBC affiliate WWBT. "Anybody that ever watches 'Duck Dynasty' knows that Si Robertson is famous for his little funny slogans and his jargons.

Hunter Spain said he opted to go home and change.

"I'm not going to look stupid in front of all of these young ladies in the school," he told WWBT with a smile. "So, I decided to get a different T-shirt."

The school defended its decision to discipline Spain.

"If you are a 'Duck Dynasty' fan you understand the meaning of the shirt," Superintendent David Clark said in a statement. "But if you haven't watched 'Duck Dynasty' you may question if the shirt implies violence. As a school division, we would like to keep our slogans on student shirts as non-violent as possible."

The fourth season premiere of "Duck Dynasty" last month drew 11.8 million viewers making it the most-watched nonfiction cable telecast in history. Uncle Si is arguably the most popular character on the show for his nonsensical phrases and jokes.

New episodes of "Duck Dynasty" start Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. EST on A&E.
