"Duck Dynasty" star Jase Robertson says his wife doesn't much care for his long beard, but she's had to suffer through it since the TV show starring his family began filming in 2012.
Appearing on Fox News Channel's "Hannity" Wednesday night to promote his book,
"Good Call: Reflections of Faith, Family, and Fowl," Robertson said he typically grows the beard only during duck hunting season, then shaves it afterword as a gift to his wife, Missy, "for putting up with me during duck season."

But with "Duck Dynasty," which stars his family, including brother Willie and father Phil, shooting "pretty much year-round," producers wanted Jase to keep his beard for continuity. Most of the other Robertson men sport long beards full time.
"Every time she gripes and complains about the beard, I say, 'Look, I'm doing my job here,'" Jase said. "This is work-related."
Jase is an evangelical Christian, and said he wanted to remain pure until he was married, so when he dated during high school he told girls about his faith and promised not to touch them.
"I actually had a couple girls get out of the vehicle," Jase told Hannity. "So I thought, well, OK. Now, we know."
Missy was the first girl who realized after his speech on faith and purity that he was the man for her, Jase said.
But once they were married, he said, they figured things out pretty quickly.
"I've got three kids," he said.
