Drunk Dial Congress (hic) Connects Americans With Elected Officials

Drunk dial Congress: that's what one new website is encouraging enraged Americans to do in response to the ongoing partial government shutdown.

The site provides Americans with a forum through which to vent their frustrations against Congress, which has support from just five percent of the country, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll released Wednesday.

On the site, appropriately named DrunkDialCongress.org, Americans enter their telephone number and receive a callback from a taped inebriated voice message that asks "Is this government shutdown making you want to drink? Tell them what’s on your mind and tell them to get back to work," ABC News reported.

The call is automatically connected to a randomly selected phone number of a member of Congress, so callers can give the elected official a piece of their mind.

DrunkDialCongress.org also suggests a series of talking points for the person who answers the call.

As compiled by the New York Post, the talking points include:

• How dare you?

• You had one job to do & you failed!

• You jerks are costing the country $12 million bucks per hour!

• I can’t watch the panda.

• How dare you not fund veterans.

• Why don’t you make yourself useful and at least mow the lawn?

The website also provides cocktail suggestions for those who are driven to drink by the shutdown. The cocktails include "The Bad Representative" –a mixture of three parts liquor, one part lemon juice, and "The Sleepy Senator," which reportedly includes absinthe among other ingredients.

The website was launched by the progressive mobile ad firm Revolution Messaging.

"Due to an unprecedented lack of public confidence in the U.S. Congress, we sadly found it necessary to purchase and populate this domain," the creators of the site explained to ABC News. "Right now, a few Republicans are willing to hurt millions of lives and risk the world economy while others in office pretend they are powerless. F—ing enough already."

President Barack Obama is also appearing to take a hit with the partial government shutdown. A Wednesday Gallup poll found that just 37 percent of Americans still support the commander-in-chief.
