A drone pilot was arrested after leaflets were dropped on two NFL games on Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle noted.

The man allegedly used his drone to distribute anti-media flyers to crowds gathered at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara to watch the game between the 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.

The suspect then went to Oakland where he flew the drone over the Raiders game against the Denver Broncos, to drop more flyers, the Chronicle reported.

"It was some type of First Amendment propaganda free speech stuff. Something about TV stations being taken over," said Lt. Dan Moreno of the Santa Clara Police Department, according to ABC News.

Authorities said the man's attempts to distribute the flyers were largely unsuccessful as the wind had carried most of the leaflets away.

Those who witnessed the drone dropping the leaflets said they thought it was a stunt by one of the teams.

"We figured it must have been something put on the by the team, by the stadium to drop off freebies to the crowd," said 49ers fan Andrew Boyd, according to ABC News.

"We wanted the free stuff. We didn't know if it was from the Niners or whom but we don't say no to free stuff," added David Weller, another 49ers fan, ABC News noted.

According to Fox News, the suspect had been in contravention of various laws, including legislation banning drones from being flown within five miles of an airport. Both stadiums are within that distance of an airport.

Moreno pointed out that, if one of the drones were to crash, it could be harmful to members of the public.

"The blades are sharp — we certainly don't want them hitting the crowd or the players," he said, per the San Francisco Chronicle.

"It's kind of up to the abilities of the drone operators and there is no way of knowing if they know what they are doing. A stadium is not a good place to fly a drone."
