Dr. Phil’s production companies received up to $7 million in government loans shortly after his son splashed out $10 million for a Beverly Hills mansion.

Many businesses are facing financial crises amid the coronavirus pandemic and the Paycheck Protection Program has been designed to help them weather the storm. However, sources are now wondering why Dr. Phil needed to ask for the government handout, Page Six reported.

The Small Business Administration listed the recipients of the PPP loans on Monday, and according to the documents, Dr. Phil's company, Stage 29 Productions, received a loan valued between $1 million and $2 million, and his second company, Peteski Productions, was granted a loan valued at between $2 million and $5 million.

The day the documents were released, Variety reported that Dr. Phil's youngest son, Jordan McGraw, dropped $10 million in cash on a 6,533 square feet mansion that features five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms and is located in the exclusive Trousdale Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills, California.

Page Six reported that there were sources who were curious about the reasons Dr. Phil applied for PPP loans but other insiders said the loans were not related to Jordan's house and were requested as a means of protecting employees of the two companies.
