Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan reportedly was arrested Monday after an alleged violent airplane attack while on a flight from New York to Ireland, but she was later released and no charges were filed.

O'Riordan, 43, was discharged from a hospital and from Irish police custody after the incident on an Aer Lingus flight that landed in Shannon, County Clare, according to the BBC News. She was taken to a hospital in Limerick and later questioned at the Shannon police station.

BBC News reported that the incident took place between O'Riordan and a female flight attendant in the business section. The news agency said that the entertainer was initially arrested for an alleged air rage incident.

"I can confirm that the incident took place on board Aer Lingus' daily service from New York to Shannon. An arrest was made following arrival at 4:47a.m," a spokesman for the airline told the BBC News.

The Guardian reported that the flight attendant suffered a foot injury and was treated at the Mid-West Regional hospital in Limerick. A spokesman for Aer Lingus told the newspaper that the incident was a "security matter."

"The matter is being investigated by a Garda Síochána," the spokesman told The Guardian. "As this is a security matter we will not comment any further."

A Twitter post picked up by various media outlets suggested that things may have not quite been right with the singer as she boarded the flight, according to one passenger on the flight.

The Guardian noted that O'Riordan is a Limerick native, but currently lives in Dublin with her husband and three children. She has fronted the Cranberries since she was 18, which went on to become one of the most successful bands of the 1990s, according to the newspaper. The Guardian wrote that O'Riordan also has served as a coach on "The Voice of Ireland."
