A pair of over-anxious dogs bounded outdoors to alert their owner to an elderly woman freezing in Michigan’s snow and now are credited with saving her life.

The two labradoodles, Adam and Eva, began acting very strange early Saturday morning by tugging on their owners’ clothing and begging to go outside their home in Norvell Township, The Good News Network reported.

It was around 4.30 a.m. and Susan Chester and Lonnie Chester were confused by their dogs’ behavior.

"(Adam) never tugged on my clothes before, so I was a cautious about letting them out because I didn't know if there was anything out there," Lonnie said, according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot.

Before the front door was fully opened, the two dogs squeezed by and bolted out into the snow, running straight to a woman in her 80s who lay shivering on ground in nothing but a nightgown and robe.

Susan Chester said the woman, who turned out to be a neighbor and whose name has been withheld, had collapsed nearly 20 feet from their door.

“She may have been crying out… She is a frail woman,” she said, per Inside Edition, saying the dogs had likely heard her.

The temperature was around nine degrees that morning, according to The Good News Network, and the woman could have been out there for hours.

“She looked up at me and said, ‘I’m so cold,’” Lonnie Chester said.

“I have no idea how long she had been out there. She must have been terrified.”

Lonnie Chester picked up the woman, brought her inside and wrapped her up in blankets before calling 911.

Emergency officials arrived, as well as the elderly woman’s family members who had been out searching for her, Inside Edition noted.

The two labradoodles have since been hailed as heroes.

“We’re just so proud of our dogs knowing they may have saved a life,” Susan Chester said, according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot.

“I hope this serves as a wake-up call for everyone, especially with it being so cold out.”
