A small white dog, apparently bored with watching Sunday’s Tour de France from the sidelines, dashed into the path of bicyclists, almost causing a crash.
Not content with challenging the odds just once, the dog ran across the track a few miles from the finish line during Stage 2 of the race and then
darted back out into the middle of the street, where it stood for just a second, the New York Daily News reported.

But as numerous cyclists bore down on the dog, it darted back to the other side of the street and narrowly avoided a catastrophe.
According to TIME.com, which posted a video of the dog’s frantic run in front of the peloton, it’s not the first time an animal has wandered onto the 96-mile Tour de France course.
In the past, another dog, a horse, and even a cow herd joined the cyclists and caused crashes, TIME reported.
MSN.com wondered if there might have been a bit of a “hilarious” curse on the race, which also saw a bus get trapped under the finish-line banner on Saturday.
Video of the dog barely escaping cyclists swept across social media, and since no one was injured, it was a safe event for jokes.
Despite the dog’s adventuresome spirit, the stage ended with no major collisions.
Australian Simon Gerrans won Stage 3 of the Tour de France, taking place on Corsica, the Cycling News reports. It was a close victory, with Gerrans crossing just inches before Peter Sagan.
“I could see Sagan under my shoulder and then I could sense him coming up beside me, so I just threw for the line. It must have been close because neither of us knew who had won,” Gerrans told Cycling News.
