Doe Attacks Hunter Who Shot Her With an Arrow

A doe attacked a Wisconsin bow hunter who wounded it, jumping out of the bush and smacking into him with her head, sending the hunter to the hospital.

The 72-year-old hunter was in Fond du Lac County, hunting with his family, when he wounded the deer and began tracking it.

“Apparently the man was going through some thick brush and the deer leaped out and went after him," Sheriff’s Officer Jeff Bonack told the Fond du Lac Reporter. "The doe struck him in the leg with her head."

"I'm guessing the deer got away," Bonack said. He did not know the hunter’s condition.

It’s not the first time a deer has attacked someone, but the incident predictably was great fodder for the Twitterverse.

In other hunting news, a hunter in a deer blind in New Jersey was forced to kill a black bear that climbed the tree he was sitting in, NJ.com reported.

A Department of Environmental Protection spokesperson told NJ.com that all evidence at the scene supported the hunter’s claim.

"We looked at the claw marks in the tree, the angle of the shooting, and the blood evidence. It seems he acted appropriately, and no summons was issued," Larry Rangonese told NJ.com. It was more than likely the bear was just curious, rather than aggressive, and probably smelled or heard something from the tree stand.
