The Dixie Chicks announced a new world tour, DCX MMXVI, on Monday, and tickets for the summer event series go on sale Friday.

"Just when you thought you were safe, America, we’re back," Natalie Maines says in a short video released on the band's Facebook page.

"It’s been 10 years since we toured the U.S." Martie Maguire continues.

"There’s no telling what will happen this time," Emily Robison concludes.

According to Rolling Stone, the tour will kick off June 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and will see the award-winning trio visit more than 40 cities across the U.S. and Canada. The tour will wrap up at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl in October.

In recent years, the Dixie Chicks toured with the Eagles in 2010, and in 2013-2014 set off on their Long Time Gone Tour that saw them travel to Canada and Europe.

The five-time Grammy winners haven't released an album since 2006's "Taking the Long Way," although Maines released a solo album, "Mother," in 2013. The other two members — sisters Maguire and Strayer, who comprise the Court Yard Hounds duo — also released an album that same year, "Amelita."

Rolling Stone reported that the Dixie Chicks are the "biggest-selling female band of all time in the U.S." and have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. 1998's "Wide Open Spaces" and 1999's "Fly" sold more than 10 million copies each.
