Disney World is building a wall at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, where an alligator snatched and killed a 2-year-old boy in June.

The wide boulder wall along the Seven Seas Lagoon beach is the latest barrier between guests and the lake, where a rope fence and warning signs were placed after the attack, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The body of 2-year-old Lane Graves of Nebraska was found 16 hours after being dragged into the lake by an alligator. The boy's father tried to save him but was unsuccessful. A second gator was involved in the attack. Five alligators were killed following the attack, and officials said they are sure they found the animal responsible for the boy's death.

Work on the boulder wall began within weeks of the attack as part of Disney's wildlife management plan and is expected to be completed by October, USA Today reported.

The fence and signs remain in front of the rock wall, warning visitors. "DANGER: Alligators and snakes in area. Stay away from the water. Do not feed the wildlife," the signs say, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The beaches at the park are closed from an hour before sundown to an hour after sunup, but guests are permitted to be there during fireworks displays at Magic Kingdom.

The boy's death was the first alligator attack at the theme park since 1986, the Palm Beach Post reported, adding that across the state there have been 348 attacks and 24 fatalities since 1948.

The boy's parents said they wouldn't sue the theme park for their child's death. They have established a foundation in his memory.
