A Georgia sheriff's deputy reportedly had his wife and her friend arrested for posting "derogatory statements" about him on Facebook, and now she is suing him.

Anne King and her friend Susan Hines were arrested in Washington County in 2015 after King posted that her husband Corey King refused to drop off some medication for his sick children on his way to work, and Hines called him a "POS" and said she would bring the medicine, according to CNN.

King refused to take the post down when her ex-husband told her to do so, which resulted in him requesting an arrest warrant for "criminal defamation of character" for both women. They were arrested and held for several hours before posting $1,000 bail, CNN reported.

A state-court judge dropped the case because there was no basis for the arrest, CNN reported.

Anne King is now suing her ex-husband and his friend, the deputy that arrested her, saying that he used an outdated state law to ask for the arrest. A 1982 Georgia Supreme Court decision made charging someone with criminal defamation unconstitutional, CNN reported.

King's friend Hines was originally part of the suit, but decided to drop out because of tensions in the small town, CNN reported.

King's attorney Ken Hodges said, "It was a classic good ole boy system at work. What she said on Facebook wasn't that offensive. It was her friend that posted the derogatory message," the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

Corey King defended his actions, saying, "I don't feel as though the portrayal of my fatherhood was truthful as what I do for my children and what I have done for my children as long as I have been alive," the AJC reported.

The case will be heard before a federal judge, whose role is to determine whether the case will be heard at trial, KDVR reported.
