Dennis Rodman posted a bizarre video on Twitter on Wednesday showing him on horseback and wondering if he should be the next United Nations ambassador.
“So anyway, I heard that the UN ambassador retired, so what do you guys think? Should I be the new UN ambassador for the United States? And try to save the world? What do you guys think?” the retired basketball player asks in the video, RT reported.
The video follows the unexpected announcement that Nikki Haley is leaving.
President Donald Trump confirmed the news of the vacancy on Tuesday, saying he was made aware of Haley’s intentions six months ago.
Some suggested that Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, who is a senior White House aide, be considered for the role but she declined via a statement on Twitter.
“It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley.” she said. “That replacement will not be me.”
After Trump's top pick to succeed Haley, Goldman Sachs executive Dina Powell, withdrew her name from contention, Politico reported the list of possible candidates includes breast cancer fundraiser Nancy Brinker.
Trump's aides hope a female successor in the high-profile role could help shore up support among female voters before the midterms, Politico reported, and other women on the list are former New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, and Kelly Knight Craft, the U.S. ambassador to Canada.
