Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich are calling it quits two months after getting engaged, according to reports. It was not an easy decision for the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer and her former fiance, but it was something they needed to do for their careers, a source revealed to People.
"It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers," the insider said. "They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."
Lovato and Ehrich began dating in March, and Ehrich popped the question on July 22. Lovato shared the news in an Instagram post that month.
"I knew I loved you the moment I met you," she captioned a photo of the former couple embracing on the beach.
"I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage," she added. "I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!"
Earlier this month, Lovato revealed that she and Ehrich decided to take a chance on their relationship by quarantining together during the coronavirus pandemic and it had made things between them stronger.
"We were able to share this time together that we wouldn't have normally gotten to spend," she said on "The Morning Mash Up" on SiriusXM Hits 1, per People. "And that accelerated our relationship on a level that you can't really explain to people, but quarantine either makes or breaks the deal. And it really made that. So I'm really blessed, really fortunate, and continuing to count my blessings every day."
