Leaked test footage of Fox’s anticipated "Deadpool" film has caused a stir on social media.

The two-minute clip of "Deadpool" was created three years ago by Blur Studio, according to Escapist Magazine, but was brought to light following last week's Comic-con.

Some speculated the studio had secretly released the footage, but it was leaked by hackers, Escapist said.

Many instances of the footage online have been removed, and Blur co-founder Tim Miller asked Blur employees to take down posts related to the clip and to quit talking about it, according to Escapist.

Deadpool is Marvel Comics' "Merc with a mouth," aka a smart-aleck mercenary. The part in the footage is played by Ryan Reynolds.

“Deadpool” creator Rob Liefeld took to Twitter to encourage fans not to get too excited just yet.

Those Twitter users who got to see the clip were delighted by the footage.
