The suspect, Neil Moore, 59, retired recently from the VA medical center’s housekeeping department, the Dayton Daily News reported.

It’s not clear whether the victim, Paul Burnside, 61, who was shot in the facility's basement break room, was an employee at the facility.

Dayton police said Moore and Burnside struggled with what was reported to be a revolver before Burnside was shot once in the ankle in front of three other witnesses. Police said the two men apparently know each other but it’s unclear as to what was the motive for the incident.

Law enforcement officers were still searching rooms in the medical center as of 2:30 p.m. but reportedly didn’t expect to find additional shooters or victims.

Moore, who has a Dayton area address, was arrested at another hospital in Dayton where he reportedly went seeking psychiatric help, the Daily News reported.

A video taken of Moore being led from a police car shows him wearing a U.S. Marine Corps jacket.
