David Copperfield's new home in Las Vegas cost the illusionist $17.55 million and includes eight bedrooms, a full-service spa, nightclub, and a golf simulation room, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Health care executive Kevin Hooks purchased the land for $2.575 million in 2005 and built the home in 2011. The four-story, 31,000-square-foot home also comes with an office, a gym, movie theater, and the wine cellar, per the Review-Journal.

Ivan Sher, who brokered the deal for the Shapiro & Sher Group, told The Wall Street Journal that Copperfield and his fiancée, Chloe Gosselin, learned recently that the home might be available and wanted to see it.

"David and Chloe had been looking for years," Sher told the Journal. "Nothing really spoke to them."

Sher said that all changed when the couple saw the home, which sits on 1.58 acres, and also includes an interior Zen garden, tropical landscaping, and a 6,177-square-foot garage with a detailing room.

"It's in an enclave with some of the most impressive homes in all of Las Vegas," said Sher. "A lot of people who sell luxury houses don't know about this little neighborhood. It's sensational and David and Chloe felt an instant connection with the home's style and its surroundings."

Brian Gordon, a principal with Applied Analysis, a Las Vegas research company, told the newspaper while the purchase was good news for the area's real estate market, the sale may not change it much.

"These kinds of transactions are unique in any given market and the quoted price point is reflective of a willing buyer and a willing seller," Gordon told the Review-Journal. "But this kind of deal is more of an anomaly and will have little impact for someone who's searching the market for a more moderately priced home."

Copperfield, 59, is the residence entertainer at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, according to the Wall Street Journal. He is best known for "vanishing" the Statue of Liberty and escaping from Alcatraz prison, reported the newspaper.

Copperfield also has a Manhattan penthouse and an archipelago of 11 islands in the Bahamas, noted the Journal.
