Daft Punk New York Times' Typos Force Publication to Issue Correction

By    |   Thursday, 30 May 2013 11:46 AM EDT

A pair of typos in the New York Times Wednesday had the popular electronica band Daft Punk going by Daft Pink and Daft Puck, prompting several tweets poking fun at the newspaper's mistake.

The Times article meant to praise the French electronica duo for their catchy, disco-inspired summer hit "Get Lucky," but instead ended up erroneously misstating the band's name twice.

"Because of editing errors, an earlier version of this article misstated the group’s name twice," a correction read. "As the article correctly noted elsewhere, it is Daft Punk, not Daft Puck or Daft Pink."

But attentive Twitter users had already picked up on the typos.

Daft Punk's fourth studio album, "Random Access Memories," broke the record for most first-week streams in the U.S. after its release last week.

The album, which features collaborations with musicians such as Pharrell, Giorgio Moroder, and Nile Rodgers to recreate the sounds of electronic dance music, sold 165,000 physical copies in its first week, putting the disc firmly at the top of the charts.
