The Chicago Cubs are one win away from the playing the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, a matchup that would find two baseball franchises trying to overcome long championships droughts.

The Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-4 Thursday night, moving their best-of-seven National League Championship series back to Wrigley Field with a 3-2 lead. The Cubs have not appeared in the World Series since 1945 and have not won it since 1908, noted the Chicago Tribune.

"We know about the history," Cubs' centerfielder Dexter Fowler told the Tribune. "We want to make history."

Cleveland, meanwhile is trying to add another chapter to "Believeland" after LeBron James led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA title in June, the city's first major sports franchise title since 1964. The Indians beat the Toronto Blue Jays in their series 4-1, winning their first American League pennant in 19 years and will be trying to win their first World Series in 68 years, said USA Today.

The Cubs were in the same position in 2003 against the Florida Marlins with two shots to win one game at home, and lost both.

But the Dodgers will not make it easy for Game 6, bringing arguably the best pitcher in baseball to the mound in three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw to throw against the Cubs. Kershaw said he will be prepared for the intensity of Saturday's game, per the Trib.

"Obviously the fans are pretty excited about their team this year, and rightfully so," Kershaw said. "They have been waiting a long time for them to win. … Pitching on the road is obviously different, but you try and keep it the same as possible. D.C. was one of the louder environments that I've pitched in. So I have gotten to do that now a few times. I guess I'm as prepared as I'll ever be for that."

Cubs' fans are sharing their excitement for Game 6 on Twitter.
