Chilean-born actress Cote de Pablo has left the door open to the possibility of returning to CBS' "NCIS."

"I think the fact that they never killed the character off is very telling," de Pablo said of her character Ziva David, according to TV Line. "Under the right circumstances, I think it could definitely be explored."

De Pablo addressed the possibility while promoting her upcoming miniseries "The Dovekeepers" with the Television Critics Association, Fox News reported.

"NCIS" creator Gary Glasberg made a similar comment in September.

"We didn't kill her," Glasberg said, according to TV Guide. "So, Ziva's still out there and she's still alive . . . We'll just have to see what happens."

De Pablo left "NCIS" after eight seasons during contract negotiations in 2013, and the actress said the exit was "rushed," Fox News said.

"I have been living, spending time with my family, which was very important to me," de Pablo said at the time. "How can I tell stories if I'm not infused by life?"

Subsequent projects have included the CBS miniseries "The Dovekeepers" and the upcoming film "The 33" about the Chilean mine disaster.

"The Dovekeepers" is set to debut on March 31 in the time slot following "NCIS," a time that was intended to take advantage of de Pablo's outspoken fanbase, Fox News said.

The show is a love story that mixes fact and fiction about the siege by Roman Empire troops of the ancient fortress of Masada in present day Israel.

Fans expressed their support for the actress on Twitter.
