In an attempt to increase revenue for President Barack Obama’s re-election effort, George Clooney will travel to Geneva, Switzerland, this summer to raise campaign cash from wealthy Americans who are living abroad.
According to the Obama for America campaign website, the Clooney event will take place August 27 and will be co-hosted by Co-president of Americans Abroad for Obama and Geneva resident Charles Adams, along with National Finance Chair of the Obama campaign Matthew Barzun.
Adams had previously hosted a fundraiser in Geneva’s Old Town, which also featured Clooney as a headliner. Albeit a far cry from the record $15 million that Clooney helped rake in at a campaign dinner held at the Hollywood actor’s home in May, the 2008 event reportedly raised between $100,000 and $200,000 for the initial Obama campaign.
Supporters will be able to hear Clooney speak at the upcoming Swiss reception by shelling out $1,000 each to the Obama Victory Fund 2012. For $5,000, individuals will have the opportunity to attend a photo reception. And for $20,000 per person, or $30,000 per couple, participants will be able sample some dinner cuisine with Clooney.
The event will not be open to the public. According to the campaign website, the location will be provided only to those who RSVP.
