Christine McVie’s return to Fleetwood Mac brings the superstar group back to its heyday when its "Rumours" album was flying off the shelves, and fans are hopeful a new album will come out of the collaboration.

In a Warner Bros. clip on USA Today, McVie talked about her 18-year departure from the band.

“I spent the first five years restoring an old house, and thinking that I just want the Range Rover, the dog, the wellington boots. ... I don’t know what I was thinking,” McVie said on the video.

But the decision to rejoin the band felt right at the first recording.

“I was, I will have to say, really nervous going in,” she said video. “The moment I walked through the door ... nothing had changed in there, and I saw Lindsey’s (Buckingham) beaming face across the studio and Mick (Fleetwood) and my nerves just vanished. We just had such a fantastic time, didn’t we?”

Buckingham, who was on the clip with McVie, agreed. “It was unbelievable,” he said. “The chemistry was better than ever. I think the individual journeys we’d been on and the growth we’d had as individuals came back together in a way that really made it better than ever.”

Fleetwood Mac announced earlier this year that McVie would return.

In 2013, McVie indicated her interest in rejoining the group, to which the band’s Stevie Nicks told Billboard: “If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?'"

Clearly, the answer to that question was yes, and fans are hoping to see a new album born of the talents of Nicks, McVie and Buckingham, the three who wrote most of the five studio albums from the group.

The group is currently on a North American tour, and just announced an extended schedule with an extra 28 concert dates.
