Chris Evans has broken his silence after accidentally posting X-rated content to social media. The "Captain America" star drew attention to himself after posting an image of a private part to his Instagram story, but rather than shy away from the public eye, he used the gaffe as an opportunity to highlight a more important topic.

"Now that I have your attention ... VOTE," Evans wrote on Monday in a tweet to his 14 million followers.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was full of praise for the actor.

"My boy! Proud of him. Got MY attention!" she replied to Evans' tweet.

Not all were enthusiastic about Evans’ post though. Actress Kat Dennings, who was slammed after hackers leaked her private photos, pointed out that the incident only highlighted a greater gender divide.

"The double standard between how everyone is treating this guy v. how everyone treats women when they get their phones’ hacked, etc... This is so incredibly telling of how misogyny is so insidious," she wrote to Twitter.

Evans' mishap occurred when he shared a video of his family playing a game of "Heads Up" on his Instagram story on Saturday, according to EOnline. At the end of the video, a camera roll popped up on the screen. Among the images was one of a man's genitals. Evans' brother, as well as an "Avengers" co-star, could not resist poking fun at the "Knives Out" actor.

"@ChrisEvans Bro, while Trump is in office there is NOTHING you could possibly do to embarrass yourself. See... silver lining," actor Mark Ruffalo tweeted.

"Was off social media for the day yesterday. What’d I miss?" his brother, Scott Evans, chimed in.

It is unclear whether the camera roll belonged to Evans.
