A Chicken McNuggets order led to two 911 calls after a customer complained that her order was taking too long and refused to leave the drive-thru.
The incident took place at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Waco, Texas, over the weekend, with local police confirming it on social media. Taking to Facebook, the Waco Police Department posted: "Yes it happens!! We actually had the chicken nugget call last night! Officers called to a restaurant drive-thru because a customer was mad her nuggets didn't get cooked quick enough and why she couldn't get them for free.
"Yes we went on this call. No...she did not get them for free. Yes we actually tied up two officers on this call.
"Waco PD, where life is never normal."
According to reports, the woman thought it had taken the restaurant too long to prepare her Chicken McNuggets and demanded she get them for free.
CNN reported that the woman, who was parked in the drive-thru lane, was so angry that she refused to move her car. Staff decided to contact authorities but, as officers were responding to the call, the woman also dialed 911.
Waco police confirmed that two officers had been tied up by the call, using precious police resources unnecessarily.
"We definitely have better things to do than respond to a call about chicken nuggets not being served quickly enough," Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told CNN.
Management returned the woman’s money but she did not receive any free nuggets, KWTX noted.
Many expressed their thoughts about the incident on social media.
"Horrible! I know in Wisconsin if you fake dial 911 a few times...it's a felony," commented Valerie J. Yelk on the Waco Police Department’s Facebook post.
"Why aren't people who call 911 for stupid reasons like this fined, jailed, or both? What part of life threatening emergency is the hard part to understand? At least test to see if these dimwits are drunk or high. Make them re-take the drivers test, including the written part about laws and regulations," added Tony Thomas.
