Charlotte Rae, best known for her roles on "The Facts of Life" and "Diff'rent Strokes," told People magazine this week that she has been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Rae, 91, who released a memoir on the popular show "The Facts of Life," which ran from 1979 to 1988, said this is her second bout with cancer, People magazine reported.

"About seven years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer — which is a miracle that they found it because usually it's too late," Rae told People. "My mother, sister and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer. After six months of chemotherapy, I was cancer-free. I lost my hair, but I had beautiful wigs. Nobody even knew.

"So now, at the age of 91, I have to make up my mind. I'm not in any pain right now. I'm feeling so terrific and so glad to be above ground. Now I have to figure out whether I want to go have treatment again to opt for life. I love life. I've had a wonderful one already. I have this decision to make," she continued.

Rae created the role of Edna Garrett on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" in 1978 before she starred in the series spinoff "The Facts of Life" the following year.

In her memoir, Rae talked about being sober for 44 years, the death of her oldest son Andrew and finding out that her husband John Strauss was bisexual, E! News noted.

Fans shared wishes and condolences on social media.
