Catt Sadler has quit E! News after finding out her co-host Jason Kennedy has been paid double her salary at the network, People magazine reported.

Sadler, 43, told People the salary information came her way before she started negotiations for a new contract, noting her duties had increased while hosting a two-hour daytime talk show, "Daily Pop," along with hosting channel's "E! News" show.

"That was really hard to swallow, but you know information is supposed to be power and when my team began negotiations knowing what we knew, that was the barometer in which I expected to be paid, based on the law and based on what I know to be fair and what I believe in my heart of hearts is reasonable," said Sadler.

An E! representative defended their compensation to their employees.

"E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender," the rep told People. "We appreciate Catt Sadler's many contributions at E! News and wish her all the best following her decision to leave the network."

In a blog on her website, Sadler said E! negotiators never "came close" to bringing her salary in line with her male counterpart.

"But how can I operate with integrity and stay on at E! if they're not willing to pay me the same as him? Or at least come close?" Sadler wrote on the blog. "How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled dedication all these years? How can I not echo the actions of my heroes and stand for what is right no matter what the cost? How can I remain silent when my rights under the law have been violated?"

Sadler said as a single mother with two children she was frightened to leave what appeared to a secure job.

"The unknown can be terrifying, but it can also be the most beautiful gift," Sadler wrote. "Countless brave women have come forward this year to speak their truth. Females refuse to remain silent on issues that matter most because without our voices, how will we invoke lasting change?”

"… It was my desire to stay at my job. To continue entertaining our loyal viewers around the world. … I will find more work. I will create content with meaning. I will continue to pursue my passions while making my children proud. The way I see it, I have an obligation to be an agent for change."
