Casey Anthony, the Florida mother who was acquitted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee three years ago, lives in an undisclosed location in Florida and remains distrustful of people, CNN said in a report on Anthony's life now.

Anthony’s former defense attorney Cheney Mason said in a recent interview that Anthony, now 28, has no relationship with her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, and rarely leaves a home where she is a “housekeeper, clerk, secretary, and stuff like that."

"She has to live constantly on guard. She can't go out in public," Mason told CNN, adding that Anthony is still hated by the public and lives in fear.

"I think Casey has a lot of world left to have to deal with. She hasn't been freed from her incarceration yet 'cause she can't go out. She can't go to a beauty parlor, she can't go shopping to a department store, she can't go to a restaurant, she can't even go to McDonald's. She can't do anything," Mason said.

While Anthony declined an interview request from CNN, Mason said he believes someday she will publicly speak out.

"I do think she wants to speak out," Mason said. "I have never asked her that, but I know she has very strong feelings for what has happened to her. I also know she's very saddened by her loss and she will never forget her daughter Caylee, ever."

In 2012, Anthony released a video diary that showed her with short, blond hair.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to call something mine,” Anthony said, referring to having her own computer and having the ability to make videos, use Skype, and share photos.

The people Anthony does have a relationship with include Mason and his wife and some members of the defense team who worked on her case. Shirley Mason said she gives Anthony advice and doesn’t play the role of her mother but someone older with experience.

"My hope for her is it gets better for her and the world or the people who have been so hateful can let that go and they can move on," she told CNN.

Anthony captured the world’s attention in 2008 when she was arrested for suspicion of child neglect. Caylee Anthony’s skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family’s home several months later and Anthony was indicted on capital murder charges. Prosecutors then said they would seek the death penalty.

After a lengthy trial that included Anthony claiming her father sexually abused her as a child, she was acquitted of the charges.
