A California mother came home to a surprise parade of friends and family members who had gathered to celebrate her completion of 140 days of chemo, Inside Edition reported.

Margaret French was diagnosed with breast cancer in October and has since been making regular trips to the hospital to undergo grueling chemotherapy treatment.

To mark the significance of her final session, Margaret French’s two grown daughters, Angela and Jamie French, decided to throw a surprise celebration for their mom’s cancer-free homecoming.

As Margaret French drove back from the chemo session and into the street of her Huntington Beach home, she was astounded to find friends and relatives from far and wide lining the road, many donning pink wigs and holding signs reading “No Mo Chemo.”

“My mom always goes above and beyond to make people feel special... My mom is an incredible woman — there is truly no one more deserving,” said Jamie French about the surprise celebration, per Inside Edition.

Margaret French had to start chemotherapy immediately after being diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma, a common type of breast cancer that can spread to the lymph nodes and other areas of the body.

According to Breastcacer.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness on breast cancer, more than 180,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer each year, with most cases being invasive ductal carcinoma.

Chemotherapy is commonly prescribed along with other treatment methods and is also used to shrink a tumor before surgery for easier and safer removal.

In Margaret French’s case, she will now undergo surgery to remove a dormant tumor, then begin radiation therapy.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation noted that this can be a challenging time emotionally and physically for the patient.

However, according to Jamie French, her mom “is in such high spirits and her medical team are very pleased with her progress,” Inside Edition reported.
