Caitlyn Jenner’s Steve Scalise comment has many on Twitter up in arms after she spoke about last week’s shooting at the GOP baseball practice that left Scalise in critical condition.
Jenner gave her take on the incident while at the College Republican’s National Convention gala last week, according to Fox News.
Jenner’s comments went viral after they appeared on Facebook.
"Nobody deserves what happened out there," Jenner said about the shooting. "There’s no justification for it. There’s crazy people in the world – we know that…We have to minimize that kind of stuff.
"Fortunately, the guy was a really bad shot…Liberals can’t even shoot straight," she added.
It was those remarks that had people on Twitter condemning Jenner, who’s a longtime Republican.
Jenner’s remarks appeared to make fun of what was a very serious incident last week when a shooter, James Hodgkinson, opened fire on several Republican members of Congress at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, as they practiced for the annual Congressional Baseball Game, according to The Hill.
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and three others were shot in the process. The shooter, who was reportedly an anti-Trump activist, was then killed by police.
Jenner said she voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, but has since then backed off a bit from her support of the commander-in-chief.
"My loyalties are not with Donald Trump," she said in April, according to The New York Daily News. "I’ll come after him and come after Republicans when they start screwing up my community."
