A photo of "caged migrant children" went viral among liberals critical of President Donald Trump last week, that is until the image got an Obama-era date stamp, RT.com reported.
The photo of two children sleeping in a detention facility run by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement started making its rounds late last week, the news website reported.
Shaming comments about the photo appeared on social media from CNN journalist Hadas Gold, New York Times magazine editor-in-chief Jake Silverstein, former Barack Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, Women's March cofounder Linda Sarsour, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and liberal activist Shaun King, among others, RT.com said.
The Daily Caller pointed out, though, that the photo came from an Arizona Republic 2014 article and wasn’t current. The Republic confirmed the fact on Twitter.
Caleb Hull, senior editor of the Independent Journal Review, called out the photo's tweeters in a post.
Once the actual date of the Arizona Republic photo was exposed, the original tweeters were left scrambling to explain their original posts, which some deleted all together.
