Butterbeer ice cream created by Pennsylvania company Yuengling's Ice Cream, is bringing the Harry Potter-themed flavor to stores nationwide.
Yuengling's, which is run by the same family as the brewing company but is a separate new ice cream maker, decided to create butterbeer ice cream because family members were big Harry Potter fans and thought others might like to see the fictional beverage brought to life as an ice cream flavor, according to Fox News.
Butterbeer appears in the Harry Potter books as a beverage that can be served hot or cold, Fox reported.
Potter author J.K. Rowling describes butterbeer in the books as “a little bit like less sickly butterscotch,” so the ice cream has a butterscotch and buttercream base along with a butterscotch swirl, Mashable reported.
Unlike the fictional brew, however, the ice cream will not contain any alcohol, of course. Although Yuengling's is one of America’s oldest breweries, Yuengling’s 18 ice cream flavors do not contain alcohol.
“We are always looking for ways to inspire our fans and spark creativity,” Yuengling president David Yuengling said in a statement. “Whether it’s our flavor names and descriptions or the recipes themselves—we’re in the business of having fun.”
