A Burger King infested with rats was temporarily closed in Wilmington, Delaware, after a video showing two rodents scampering over sandwich buns went viral.

The video was posted on Facebook on May 31 by Shantel Johnson, including a caption that described the location of the restaurant.

Officials from Delaware’s Division of Public Health Office of Food Protection arrived at the business the next day, where they reportedly found rodent droppings in the buns and elsewhere, along with other health code violations, Fox News reported.

Health officials ordered the restaurant closed because of an "imminent health hazard" and "gross unsanitary conditions."

The independently owned and operated Burger King reopened Monday afternoon after a follow-up inspection, The News Journal reported.

Among improvements at the restaurant, repairs were made to a broken drain, holes in walls were fixed, weekly pest service was established, the ceiling was no longer leaking, the buns were discarded, and the area that held the bread was sanitized, The News Journal noted, citing the re-inspection report.

“While we know that rodents are attracted to easily available food sources, the DPH Office of Food Protection (OFP) conducts routine inspections with food establishments to ensure the safety of the public’s food supply and ensure establishments are complying with standards of food safety, quality and the food code," to Andrea Wojcik, spokeswoman for the Division of Public Health, said, according to The News Journal.

"Another strength of our robust food safety and inspection program is following up on complaints. In this case, we responded the same day we received a complaint regarding a potential rodent infestation and immediately closed the restaurant due to gross unsanitary conditions."

This isn't the first time rodents have caused grief for a restaurant. Last year, customers at a Texas Chipotle reportedly saw three rodents fall from the ceiling. In 2015, a customer reportedly found a dead mouse in a salad at an Oregon Subway restaurant. A year earlier, a man claimed to have found a rat in food at a Florida Golden Corral.
