Bumble banned gun images from its site unless the users are in military or law enforcement uniforms, the dating app announced.

A statement on the Bumble website Monday said that the site will moderate all photos for gun images because "gun violence is not in line with our values, nor do these weapons belong on Bumble."

Bumble said it had previously banned hate speech and inappropriate sexual content from the app to make it safer, and the gun image ban is another attempt to do so.

The app also made a $100,000 donation to March for Our Lives, an organization founded by survivors of the Parkland school shooting that would like to see more gun control and other safety measures taken to prevent future shootings, The Hill reported.

"We stand with them, and join them in working towards a non-violent future," the statement read.

Since the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, several companies including Delta, Hertz and MetLife have cut ties with the National Rifle Association, ending discount programs and denouncing the gun rights organization, The New York Times reported.

Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd also told The New York Times that moderators have been instructed to remove photos that feature knives and other weapons as well as guns.

"This is not super black and white," Herd said of the new policy. "It's a very tricky battle we've chosen to take on, but I'd rather pursue this than just ignore it."

Twitter was split on the decision.
