Brooklyn Shooting Leaves Nine People at House Party Wounded

By    |   Monday, 01 July 2013 10:36 AM EDT

A Brooklyn shooting that left nine people at a house party wounded has the New York Police Department looking at surveillance footage of two persons of interest wanted in connection to the early Sunday morning melee.

Four men and five women, all younger than 45, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to three area hospitals after a fight broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday at a house party in East Flatbush.

Witnesses described the scene as "chaotic" as gunshots rang out into the crowd of about 60 partygoers.

"There was basically nowhere to run. It was chaotic," Aaron Strahan, who lives at the Brooklyn home where the nine people were wounded at the party, told CBS New York."People were laying on the floor. People were banging on my door, trying to get in. People were trying everything possible to stay alive."

Neighbors who described the neighborhood as "quiet and beautiful" were shocked to hear about the shooting.

"I thought it was firecrackers due to Fourth of July next Thursday," one neighbor told CBS New York. "I look out the window, people were running."

"There were a bunch of girls running down my street after they jumped the fence," another witness told the New York Daily News."Some had no shoes on and still another girl’s blouse was ripped right off."

The shooting victims reportedly suffered a range of injuries, including gunshot wounds to the side, lower back, calf, and foot, but all are in stable condition as of Monday morning, according to police.

The two men seen in the surveillance video are wanted for questioning but it's unclear if both of them fired shots, NBC New York noted.
