Brooke Shields revealed this week that her ex-husband tennis star Andre Agassi threatened her during the couple's divorce proceedings in 1999.
The former child star and model, now 48, appeared on a "Today" show segment Wednesday titled, "Dealing With Divorce: How to Move On."

"I am divorced," Shields said on the show. "And mine was fairly quick and relatively easy, but it's a very interesting thing because he did say to me, 'Be happy that we don't have children or I would not have made this easy for you.' And therein lies why I'm not there anymore."
Shields and Agassi started dating in 1993 and got married in 1997, but divorced almost exactly two years later. Agassi later opened up about the breakdown of the marriage in his autobiography, "Open," and in television interviews.
"I think at that time in my life I couldn't be married to anyone,"
he told the "Today" show in a 2009 interview. "I think timing is really important. You need in a marriage, two people who understand themselves… and I certainly didn't understand myself."
Shields later married television writer Chris Henchy in 2001. Together, they have two daughters — Rowan, 10, and Grier, 7.
"He is rock solid and so incredibly aware," Shields said of Henchy on Wednesday's show. "He just revels in me, but doesn't hold me on such a pedestal that I'm too far away from him."
