Brooke Burke-Charvet Fired by 'DWTS,' Replaced by Erin Andrews

Fox Sports' Erin Andrews has signed on to replace Brooke Burke-Charvet on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" just a few days after producers fired the longtime co-host.

Burke-Charvet, 42, took over the co-hosting gig from Samantha Harris during the reality dancing competition's 10th season in 2010. She had previously won season 7 as a competitor with pro partner Derek Hough.

Alongside Tom Bergeron, Burke-Charvet delivered post-dance interviews and score recaps every week but now her days on the dance floor are done.

"We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season," "DWTS" executive producer Conrad Green said in a statement. "She's been a wonderful part of the 'Dancing with the Stars' family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service."

Burke-Charvet took to Twitter to thank fans for years of support.

"I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting 'DWTS' but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture," she said in a statement. "I've always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn't able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I've seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake."

Like her predecessor, Andrews, 35, also appeared as a past contestant on the show — she took third place with pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy in season 10.

"DWTS" execs also axed Harold Wheeler and his 28-member orchestra, who provided live musical accompaniments to each dancer's routine.

"We feel that there are some types of music and types of songs — a lot of modern music particularly — [that are] so produced that it's impossible for an 18-piece band to replicate that sound," Green told The Hollywood Reporter. "You get to a point where you're forcing a band to try and do sound that they just literally can't pull off."

Season 18 of "DWTS" kicks off March 17.
