"The Brady Bunch" star Barry Williams is looking back at the "very intense years" he experienced while filming the popular sitcom.

The actor, 66, spent the bulk of his teen years in front of the camera and admitted to "Today Extra" hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russell that it was challenging growing up in the public eye.

"The years were very intense years for me," Williams said. "All my teen years, 14 to 20, were on 'The Brady Bunch.'"

There was some comfort in knowing he was not alone. The other kids on "The Brady Bunch" were going through similar "awkward" changes and it was all happening right in front of the camera.

"There were a lot of changes," he continued. "You could hear the voice changing, you could see the hair changing, you could see the growth spurts going on with all of us. So, it was sometimes awkward and sometimes fun. But I've always enjoyed people watching the show."

The experience was not all bad though. Williams emphasized the fact that he loved being a part of the sitcom, and developing a bond with his co-stars, and said that they were still in touch even today.

"We maintain our relationships, we've seen all the major events of our lives together: marriages, children sometimes marriages that split. Now our children are graduating," he said. "We've always had a Brady family together. I'm fortunate that I've been able to diversify and do different things. But the Brady has always been very much constant and certainly because it's never been off the air, people have made that connection and it's very solid."

The characters exude notable energy on screen and while it is obvious they were all close, viewers were fixated on Williams, who played the eldest son Greg Brady on the series, and Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia, and wondered whether there was a romance going on behind the scenes. Speaking with the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2013, Williams confirmed the rumors.

"The second-most asked question in my world is 'Did Maureen McCormick and, or Marcia Brady, and I date? Were we an item? And the answer is yes, we did. Definitely," he said.

Williams then revealed that he was McCormick's first kiss.

"And that was in Hawai’i while we were filming those episodes. We snuck away, it was a full moon and walked along the sand," he said. "Well, I knew where that was headed. Of course, I set it up."
