Fourteen years after their divorce that stunned celebrity fans, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are getting close again. The two, once (and still?) a favorite couple of celebrity watchers, have been spending quite a bit of time together. According to reports, Pitt was seen attending his ex-wife's holiday party, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Pitt has also attended other milestone events including Aniston's 50th birthday party in February.
Fans are speculating on whether or not the two may reunite.
Pitt and Aniston have come a long way since their 2005 divorce during which they were not as friendly with one another, especially after Brad began a romantic relationship with Angelina Jolie.
Things started falling apart between Brad and Jen when he met Jolie on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." There was obvious onscreen chemistry and a year later Brad and Jen ended their five-year marriage, in a move that was as unpopular with fans as Rachel and Ross breaking up on Jen’s hit show “Friends.”
A month after their divorce was final, Brad had moved on to Jolie. News of their coupling caught Jen off guard.
"The world was shocked, and I was shocked," she told Vanity Fair. "I can't say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, 'Isn't that sweet! That looks like fun!'?"
Jen admitted to feeling "moments of anger, of hurt, of embarrassment" but added that Brad was not "mean-spirited."
He, on the other hand, was far less tentative in comments passed in a 2011 interview. Chatting with Parade, the "Ad Astra" star said he had been dealing with feelings of discontentment at the time and believed his marriage had something to do with that.
He later backtracked on his statement, apologizing for how it had been interpreted.
"Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend," he said. "It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself."
There have been seemingly hostile moments between Brad and Jen but the two always seem to gravitate towards each other. They remained in contact when Pitt split with Jolie in 2016 and have been nurturing their friendship since.
Pitt and Aniston have always had open lines of communication and this has helped them over the years. Now, it’s a question of how much closer they’ll get.
