A boating accident in swift currents beneath a dam in Oregon claimed the life of a 6-year-old girl who was thrown into the water with several others.

The child was among passengers who were thrown from the boat on Sunday when it hit a hydraulic step near a diversion dam near Corvallis, according to Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman.

The overboard passengers were subsequently taken by a strong current.

The incident occurred approximately two miles downstream of the Woodside Fishing Access on the Bitterroot River, UPI.com reports.

First responders to the scene reportedly made multiple attempts to resuscitate the child, whose name has not been released, before she was flown to Missoula, Montana's St. Patrick Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Also on Sunday, authorities recovered the body of a woman which surfaced in Utah's Lake Powell during a boating accident last week.

Valerie Bradshaw, 29, was recovered at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday by a Utah Highway Patrol dive team, according to Salt Lake City's Desert News.

Bradshaw's boat reportedly slammed into a houseboat on Lake Powell the morning of June 20, Desert News reports. She was joined on the boat by her friend by Jessica Jackman, 22, who is still missing.
