Bill Cowher, Former NFL Coach, in Car Accident in Manhattan

Bill Cowher, the Pittsburgh Steelers' former head coach, got into a car accident on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Sunday.

The Super Bowl winning coach, known for his temper on the field, was hit by a woman driving a Ford Fusion while traveling North on Park Avenue.

According to police and eye witnesses, Cowher's black Mercedes-Benz was cut off by the woman who was attempting to turn from an outside lane down 92nd Street, the New York Daily News reported.

Cowher's Mercedes then hit the woman's fusion, sending it into a sidewalk pole and scaffolding leading to construction materials crashing to the ground around it.

According to police, no one was injured in the accident.

A former linebacker in the NFL, Cowher is most known today for having coached the Steelers for 15 seasons before retiring in 2007.

Cowher remains the only head coach to guide his team to the playoffs in his first six seasons in NFL history, SB Nation reports.

Having reportedly purchased an expensive condo in Manhattan recently, if Cowher were ever to return to the sidelines, many sports observers suggest it would be for either the New York Giants or New York Jets.

He is presently working as an on-air studio analyst for CBS' "The NFL Today" show.
