Comedian Bill Cosby was interrupted by two hecklers during his show at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in suburban Atlanta Saturday, as allegations of sexual assaults years ago continued to dog the entertainer.
Some 20 people also protested the concert outside of the venue before the concert, including actress Lili Bernard, who charged that Cosby raped her in 1992 about the time she was a guest star on "The Cosby Show,"
reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
One unidentified man and Ashley Leonard, from Wilmington, North Carolina, were escorted out of the center after standing and interrupting the comedian in the middle of his show.
The crowd in the area booed Leonard as she was escorted but Cosby asked the audience to stop, according to the newspaper.
"Stop it! This is our show," Cosby told the audience. "It will be over soon."
Celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who has held news conferences with numerous woman who charged that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them, also appeared outside the arena but was denied entry along with Bonnie Upton, wrote the Journal-Constitution.
"It wasn't unexpected and it proves that he knows that there is significant opposition," said Upton. "I won't stop until there are more reproductive health centers than rape crisis centers. And he is the poster boy."
Bernard said in a news conference on Friday,
according to BuzzFeed News, that Cosby raped her after offering to mentor her. Bernard and Allred reported the rape to the Atlantic City police last week, noted BuzzFeed.
The website said Cosby could be prosecuted there if the police find enough evidence to pursue a case since there is no statute of limitations for rape in the state.
"He praised me. … He lifted me up," Bernard said of her relationship with Cosby in the early 1990s. "I believed him. After all, he was Bill Cosby. After he had won my complete trust and adoration, he drugged me and raped me."
Bernard told the news conference that Cosby threatened her in their last conversation in 1992.
"I am coming forward to show my six-year-old daughter to stand in truth, and to say that I have survived Bill Cosby's drugging and raping me," Bernard told the news conference. "I stand here to take back my power and to confront the fear that has paralyzed me for so many years."
